Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa filed his certificate of candidacy under PDP-Laban, running for President in the 2022 elections. Sen. Dela Rosa is a close ally of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Sen. Dela Rosa said in an interview:
“I am fielded by my political party, the PDP-Laban for reasons that wala na silang ibang nakita na magpapatuloy sa legacy ng ating Pangulong Duterte, iyong ating laban sa droga, kriminalidad, korapsyon at terorismo, at ang pagpatuloy sa pagbangon ng ating ekonomiya amidst the pandemic,”
“This is a party decision, this is not my personal decision kasi kung ako lang masusunod, kung patatakbuhin nila ako, tatakbo pa rin ako,” he added.
Sen. Dela Rosa is ranks 5th last 2019 senatorial elections with over 19 million votes.
Rumors are circulating that Sen. Dela Rosa is a substitution candidate for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. Mayor Sara is running for re-election as Mayor of Davao City. Substitution is allowed till November 15, 2021.
