President Rodrigo Roa Duterte announced that he is retiring from politics, and supports Sen. Bong Go in running for vice president in 2022 elections. His term as Philippine President will end on June 30, 2022.

Pres. Duterte said, “the overwhelming sentiment of the Filipino is that, I’m not qualified, and it would be a violation of the constitution,“
He added, “I now say, sa mga kababayan ko, sundin ko ang gusto ninyo, and today, I announce my retirement from politics.”
The pronouncement was done after the filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) of Senator Bong Go as Vice President in 2022 elections.
